Grant Field has owned and operated Deerfield Farm since

1986.  He has an extensive career in both the Hunter and

Jumper rings both as a coach and as a rider.  

Before opening Deerfield, Grant trained as a young rider

with John Weir, Robert Meilsoe, Mac Cone, Ken

Denouden, Hans Renz, Andrew Dalnoki and Ian

Millar. During these years as a junior, Grant had a

successful show career, provincially, nationally, and

internationally in the Hunter ring through to the

Junior Hunters and in the Jumper ring through to the

Grand Prix level. It was also during this time that Grant was selected to the Canadian

Young Riders Showjumping Team for two consecutive years.

Since opening Deerfield Farm, he has trained horses and coached riders from

beginner through to the Grand Prix level.  He has qualified his own and his

students' hunters and jumpers for the Royal Winter Fair.  He is a certified

CEF Level 3 coach.  His focus as a coach is to help riders create an

individual program for their horse and themselves that can be successful

at the level appropriate to that horse/ rider combination, and hopefully

include a bit of fun in the process.
